The Astronomy Of The Field Of Excellence For All Sky...

Bryan Gaensler is an Australian born astronomer who is currently leading a team of Australia’s best astronomers in the ARC Centre of Excellence for All-sky Astrophysics (CAASTRO). His main field of study is cosmic magnetism which also encompasses the study of supernova remnants. Because magnetic fields are not visible to the naked eye or regular telescopes, Gaensler’s team must use radio telescopes to view the polarised radiation being emitted. By using radio telescopes to view the fields, they are able to view the â€Å"Faraday Rotation† of distant objects and galaxies. Michael Faraday showed that a magnet is capable of producing a rotational motion in a conductor carrying a current. So, in this; light from a background object is altered when it is subjected to a cloud of magnetised gas. Through the analysis of these observations, three dimensional maps of cosmic magnetism can be rendered which will ultimately show the role they play in the functioning of the un iverse and how magnetic fields work. Gaensler’s in depth studies in the area of cosmic radiation have contributed greatly to modern astronomy and to science in general. Through his works and the data he has gathered, we are, and will continue to be able to make comparisons between the magnetism of local galaxies. His study is critical to astronomy as magnetic fields are present in nearly every point in the universe and most matter is tightly fixed to a magnetic field. These fields also scatter the gas of galaxies

RFID Technology in distribution of products - MyAssignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about the RFID Technology in distribution of products. Answer: RFID: Technologys blessings Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in distribution and warehouse operation is used for wireless tracking of the trucks and products of the organisation. Of late, the process of using RFID is getting high as RFID tags have unique information and this can be attached to the objects. These objects can be tracked wirelessly through network and information can be matched with a computer database. Moreover, as stated by Fan et al. (2014), RFID is most helpful when one single organisation controls the entire distribution process. In recent time, Amazon, Walmart and Apple have been using this technology that simplifies the distribution process and hastens the distributions to customers. Nowadays, RFID tags are used in warehouses and it consists of tag with electronic circuits. These electronic circuits send information to a particular reader and this reader sends that information to radio signal query. Benefits of RFID in distribution process In fashion clothing, FMCG and in the retail sector, the utilization of RFID will be very helpful. RFID technology provides the benefits to tag the products from distance and it can be worked in a harsh environment. The information that is imprinted through Bar Code cannot be altered, however, RFID can store the information and the information can be updated from time to time like inventory equipment (Perez and Gutierrez 2016). In distribution process, RFID provides the benefits of long range read the information and it provides the benefits of a portable database. The processing speed of RFID is high and high-value assets can be protected. RFID provides the advantages of multiple read/write of tags. Most importantly, RFID provides the benefits of tracking of items, people, truck and equipment. A large business can have the benefits of reading through multiple sources and the organisation can know where the items are. Working process of RFID: In expensive RFID technology can send signals to a large distance. All the products ID are unique and that helps to segregate the products and it is unlike the Bar Code (Fan et al. 2015). The products can be tagged in the warehouse and it can be tagged as they move through truck also. Figure: Working Process of RFID in distribution (Source: Google image) Tags: Data is transferred between readers and tags using radio waves, most importantly, no direct line of sight is seen. The database of computer records the reading and in case of further action, the computer searches for the actual ID. Moreover, RFID allows the users to identify a dozen of products at a time (Monezka et al. 2015). Costly tags can be used as large capacity of storage. Tags can provide information to robotic operation also. Updated status can come when one task is ended and these tags have the lifetime of 6 to 10 years. Frequency: Frequency is related to the transmission range that must be suited to speed and performance needs. However, in all countries, not all networks are available for frequencies and bandwidth availability is necessary. In the planning of supply chain and distribution, this compatibility of frequency and network availability should take into consideration (Wong and Guo 2014). RFID technology uses the frequency of 13.55MHZ as the high frequency in accessing the control of vehicle identification. Read/Write capabilities Read-only tags in RFID technology have fixed the data securely in the time of manufacture. However, in the post-manufacture process, the system of Write Once, Read Many (WORM) may have their data written and it is the popular kind of tags. In case of rewritable tags, it has memory within them and it is costly. It provides updated data and it is flexible, however rewritable memory has shorter reading and writing range (Monezka et al. 2015). Figure: RFID technology (Source: Google image) Use of RFID technology by Walmart In the previous time, cross-docking distribution resulted to shipping the distribution took almost 48 hours. Nonetheless, Walmart invested in ICT systems and merchandise the inventory systems. In the year 1983, Walmart set up their satellite communication. However, Walmart lost $3 billion in the year 2013 and it was because of poor distribution and merchandise policy (Forbes.com 2017). Distribution process of Walmart takes effective use of logistics management, effective inventory control and global expansion for market opportunity. In case of Walmart, readers take the signal and it has dual responses, the first one provides power to tag and the second one creates an interrogation signal. Then, the tag returns to signal that contains the unique ID to look for the database as manufacturer, names, SKU and cost. Walmart has recently taken the initiatives to require 100 largest suppliers to have shipments tag with RFID. ePC specification of Walmart has been using the UHF (Ultrasound High Frequency) band. Figure: Use of RFID technology by Walmart (Source: Google image) Standards ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) undertakes to check most of the RFID standards projects and they focus mainly on technical standards. Automatic identification with data capture technique is the standards related to RFID. References Fan, T., Tao, F., Deng, S. and Li, S., 2015. Why is Leonardo da Vinci considered a Renaissance man Example For Students

Why is Leonardo da Vinci considered a Renaissance man? A man who has broad intellectual interests and is accomplished in areas of both the arts and the sciences. That is the definition of a Renaissance man. Leonardo ability to observe and study, then demonstrate those things in his art, makes him a perfect example of a renaissance man. Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the greatest inventors. He was also one of the most famous scientists of recorded history. His genius was limited by time and technology, and was driven by his curiosity, and his instinctive sense of the laws of nature. Dad Vinci was dedicated to discovery of truth and the mysteries of nature, and his contributions to science and technology were legendary. As the classic Renaissance man, Leonardo helped set a curious and superstitious world on the means of reason, science, learning, and tolerance. In his time, he was an internationally famous inventor, scientist, engineer, architect, painter, sculptor, musician, mathematician, anatomist, astronomer, geologist, biologist, and philosopher. In an era when left-handedness was considered the devils work and lefties were often forced to use their right hand, Leonardo actually used his left hand. We will write a custom essay on Why is Leonardo da Vinci considered a Renaissance man? specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now People say that this difference was an element of his genius, since his mind allowed him to see beyond the ordinary. He even wrote backwards, and his writings are easily deciphered only with a mirror. Between 1490 and 1495 he developed his habit of recording his studies in illustrated notebooks. His work covered four main themes: painting, architecture, the elements of mechanics, and human anatomy. All one hundred twenty of his notebooks were written backwards. Today, Bill Gates is known o have bought one of his notebooks for thirty million dollars. Born in 1452, as an illegitimate son of Seer Piper Dad Vinci, Leonardo was sent to Florence in his teens to apprentice as a painter under Andrea del Veronica. He quickly developed his own artistic style which was unique and contrary to tradition. He even went so far as to make his own special formula of paint. Leonardo went beyond his teachings by making a scientific study of light and shadow in nature. The thought that objects were not comprised of outlines, but were actually three- dimensional bodies defined by light and shadow. Known as chiaroscuro, this technique gave his paintings the soft, lifelike quality that made older paintings look cartoons and flat. He also saw that an objects detail and color changed as it went father and closer in the distance. This technique was called suffuse. His study of nature and anatomy emerged in his realistic paintings, and his dissections of the human body made him famous for remarkably accurate figures. He was the first artist to study the physical proportions of men, women and children and to use these studies to determine the ideal human figure. Leonardo was also a bought caged animals at the market Just to set them free. Later Dad Vinci became the court artist for the duke of Milan. Throughout his life he also served various other roles, including civil engineer and architect (designing mechanical structures such as bridges and aqueducts), and military planner and weapons designer (designing tanks, catapults, machine guns, and naval weapons) Leonardo hated war, he called it beastly madness ,but since Renaissance Italy was constantly at war he couldnt avoid it. He designed numerous weapons, including sessile, multi-barreled machine guns, grenades, mortars, and even a modern-style tank. He drew the line, however, with his plans for an underwater breathing device, which he refused to reveal, saying that men would likely use it for evil in war. Leonardo dad Vinci had many innovative designs, scientific accomplishments, and artistic masterpieces. .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 , .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .postImageUrl , .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 , .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428:hover , .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428:visited , .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428:active { border:0!important; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428:active , .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428 .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .uc6a0fdfde740e19f88a26e0d725c5428:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: High Renaissance and Mannerism in Northern Europe and SpainSome of his innovative designs include: flying machines, parachutes, submarines, underwater breathing devices, self floatation/ocean rescue devices, swimming fins, pumping mechanisms, water turbines, dredging systems, team calorimeters, water-well drill, swing bridges, canals, leveling/surveying instruments, cranes, pulley systems, street-lighting systems, convection roasting spit, mechanical saw, treadle-operated lathe, compasses, contact lenses, and military weapons. Chinas Hukou System

Chinas Hukou System Chinas Hukou system is a family registration program that serves as a domestic passport, regulating population distribution and rural-to-urban migration. It is a tool for social and geographic control that enforces an apartheid structure that denies farmers the same rights and benefits enjoyed by urban residents.    History of the Hukou System The modern Hukou system was formalized as a permanent program in 1958.   The system was created to ensure social, political, and economic stability.   Chinas economy was largely agrarian during the early days of the Peoples Republic of China.  In order to speed up industrialization, the government prioritized heavy industry by following the Soviet model.   In order to finance this expansion, the state underpriced agricultural products, and overpriced industrial products to induce an unequal exchange between the two sectors, essentially paying peasants less than market price for their agricultural goods.   In order to sustain this artificial imbalance, the government had to create a system which restricts the free flow of resources, especially labor, between industry and agriculture, and between city and countryside.    Individuals became categorized by the state as either rural or urban, and they were required to stay and work within their designated geographic areas.   Traveling was permitted under controlled conditions, but residents assigned to a certain area will not be given access to jobs, public services, education, healthcare, and food in another area.   A rural farmer who chooses to move to the city without a government-issued Hukou would essentially share the same status an illegal immigrant in the United States.   Obtaining an official rural-to-urban Hukou change is extremely difficult.   The Chinese government has tight quotas on conversions per year.    Effects of the Hukou System The Hukou system has historically always benefited the urbanites.   During the Great Famine of the mid-twentieth century, individuals with rural Hukous were collectivized into communal farms, where much of their agricultural output were taken in the form of a tax by the state and given to city dwellers.   This led to massive starvation in the countryside, and the Great Leap Forward would not be abolished until the effects were felt in the cities. After the Great Famine, rural residents continued to be marginalized, while urban citizens enjoyed a range of socio-economic benefits.   Even today, a farmers income is one-sixth that of the average urban dweller.   Farmers have to pay three times more in taxes, but receive a lower standard of education, healthcare, and life.   The Hukou system impedes upward mobility, creating essentially a caste system that governs Chinese society.    Since the capitalistic reforms of the late 1970s, an estimated 260 million rural dwellers have illegally moved to the cities, in an attempt to partake in the remarkable economic development taking place there.   These migrants brave discrimination and possible arrest while living on the urban fringe in shantytowns, railway stations, and street corners.   They are often blamed for rising crime and unemployment.    Reform With Chinas rapid industrialization, the Hukou system needed to be reformed in order to adapt to the countrys new economic reality.   In 1984, the State Council conditionally opened the door of market towns to peasants.   Country residents were allowed to get a new type of permit called, â€Å"self-supplied food grain† Hukou, provided that they satisfied a number of requirements.   The primary requirements are that a migrant must be employed in enterprise, have their own accommodations in the new location, and be able to self-provide their own food grain.   Holders are still not eligible for many state services and they cannot move to other urban areas ranked higher than that particular town.    In 1992, the PRC launched another form of permit called the blue-stamp Hukou.   Unlike the self-supplied food grain Hukou, which is limited to certain business peasants, the blue stamp Hukou is open to a wider population and allowed migration into bigger cities.   Some of these cities included the Special Economic Zones (SEZ), which were havens for foreign investments.   Eligibility was primarily limited to those with familial relations with domestic and overseas investors.   Ã‚  The Hukou system experienced another form of liberation in 2001 after China joined the World Trade Organization (WTO).   Although WTO membership exposed Chinas agricultural sector to foreign competition, leading to job losses, it galvanized the labor-intensive sectors, particularly in textile and clothing, leading to an urban labor demand.   The intensity of patrols and documentation inspections were relaxed.    In 2003, changes were also made to how illegal migrants are to be detained and processed.   This was the result of a media and internet-frenzied case in which a college educated urbanite named, Sun Zhigang, was beaten to death after he was taken into custody for working in the megacity of Guangzhou without the proper Hukou ID. Despite the reforms, the current Hukou system still remains fundamentally intact because of the continuing disparities between the states agricultural and industrial sectors.   Although the system is highly controversial and vilified, a complete abandonment of the Hukou is not practical, due to the complexity and interconnectedness of the modern Chinese economic society.   Its removal could lead to a migration so massive that it could cripple city infrastructures and destroy the rural economy.   For now, minor changes will continue to be made to the Hukou, as it coincides with Chinas shifting political climate.

Sample Strong Supplemental Essay for College Admissions

Sample Strong Supplemental Essay for College Admissions The supplemental essays for college admissions can be a stumbling point for applicants. Many students put significant time into their longer personal statement but then rush off the shorter supplemental section of the application. A typical result can produce a  weak supplemental essay. The strong essay below was written in response to the application to Duke Universitys Trinity College. The guidelines for the optional supplemental essay ask, If you are applying to Trinity College of Arts and Sciences, please discuss why you consider Duke a good match for you. Is there something in particular at Duke that attracts you? Please limit your response to one or two paragraphs. Example Strong Supplemental Essay The question asked here is typical of many supplemental essays. Essentially, the admissions folks want to know why their school is of particular interest to you. When I visited the Duke campus last fall, I immediately felt at home. The Gothic architecture and tree-shaded walks created an atmosphere of peaceful but serious reflection. The place is at once Southern - which, as an Alabamian, is important to me - and universal as it reflects the traditions of Europe and the classical world. The Trinity College liberal arts curriculum also reflects this unique pairing of the modern South and the global past. For example, I am considering a major in history, and am very interested in the combination of geographic and thematic areas of study offered by Duke’s history program. The combinations of areas offer seeming endless areas of specialization. One interesting possibility is a focus in the geographic area of the U.S. and Canada, combined with a thematic study of Women and Gender or African Diaspora. By juxtaposing and intertwining these two foci, my understanding of the American South - and much more - would be greatly enriched. This i nnovative and flexible approach to both traditional and non-traditional subject matter is greatly appealing to me. I know by reputation and from a friend currently enrolled in Trinity College that the liberal arts curriculum is very challenging, but also rewarding. I believe I am more than prepared for these challenges, and that I will thrive in this climate. Duke University’s campus already feels like home; I believe that its academic opportunities will also provide a stimulating environment in which I feel I belong. Critique of the Supplemental Essay First, think about the prompt. The admissions officers want to know if there is something in particular at Duke that makes the applicant want to go there. A bad essay never discusses features that are unique to Duke. A good essay gets specific and shows particular knowledge of the school. The sample essay succeeds on this front. Although the essay is just a paragraph long, the author presents three specific features of Duke that make her want to attend: The attractive campus with its Gothic and Southern appealThe flexible nature of the history curriculumThe fact that she has a friend at Duke This last point doesnt matter much in the admissions process and the writer was correct to mention it only indirectly. The first point has moderate importance. Many colleges have impressive Gothic architecture, so the feature isnt unique to Duke. However, the writer connects the campus to her own Southernness. She also demonstrates that she has visited the campus, something that is not true of many applicants who haphazardly apply to a long list of prestigious schools. The second point about the history curriculum is key to this essays success. This applicant knows what lies beneath the universitys surface. She has clearly researched the curriculum. She is not applying to Duke simply because of its beauty or its reputation, but because she likes how the university approaches learning. Avoiding Supplemental Essay Mistakes In general, the author has avoided common  supplemental essay mistakes and written an effective response to the universitys prompt. Admissions officers will certainly take note of the fact that this applicant has done some research and has thoughtful reasons for wanting to attend Duke. If your supplemental essay to the question asking Why Our School? could be applied to numerous schools, you have failed to respond to the prompt effectively. This is not the place to be generic or lazy. Do your research, and articulate the unique reasons why the school is a good match for your interests, personality, and goals. Write your  supplemental essay  so it is strong, specific, and targeted toward that specific college.

Equity and Trusts Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Equity and Trusts - Essay Example The formal declaration is not subject to any alteration and therefore settles any dispute that would possibly arise from the process of sharing the property. A will is a binding document that is always not subject to any form of alteration. Alan Jones leaves behind a will elaborating how he would wish to share his wealth. The terms of the will just as is the situation with any other are legal terms and therefore require effective analysis and interpretation. Everyone referred to in the will must receive the resources allocated to them and utilize the resources as directed by the deceased. This implies that the lawyer does not only oversee the interpretation of the will by making the terms understandable to the parties but also ensures that the specific parties carry out the mandate bestowed upon them by the author of the will (Ross, 2004). In his will, Alan Jones begins by allocating his former wife, Lucinda an amount of money worth five hundred pounds. In the directive, Alan says th at he hopes the woman puts the money in a trust to help the Ilchester animals sanctuary so that the money helps the sick animals in the sanctuary (Garth, 1998). The terms of the will in relation to the former wife are liberal. Alan gives the woman the amount and in so doing, he bestows on her the mandate to invest the money as she wishes. He later advises that the woman invests the money in a trust, the tone of the directive is an advice and so, the woman has no prerogative to comply with it. He says that he wishes she invested the money in trust to help sick animals in the sanctuary. Despite this, the woman has the right to invest the money as she so wishes only that it would make him happier if she did invest the money in the trust as he advises (McKendrick, 2012). From the composition of the directive, it is possible Allan knew that his former wife and a passion for conserving the animals. He, therefore, presumes that the receipt of such an amount would help her realize her dream of reaching out to the animal orphanage. This information compels Alan to advise her to do so with the money. Possibly, the woman may decide to invest the money in the trust as he advises but the terms of the will does not bind the stakeholders to use the money in the assistance of sick animals since this again is another random advice such he believes that the sanctuary protects only sick animals (Amsterdam & Bruner, 2002). The sanctuary after receiving the money has the authority to invest it in a manner they deem necessary since the terms of the will do not influence their budgetary allocation and internal operations. In the second sentence, he gives his two houses to his brothers Kip and Tim. He makes it clear on the location of the houses by naming thereby making it clear that the two houses include the one on number 12 High Fullchetser while the other in 42 High Ilchester. By naming the location of the houses, Alan makes the will clear and does not, therefore, create confusio n with any other interested parties on the two houses. On the same sentence, he says that Kip to have the first choice, a depiction of presence in which he apportions his brother Kip the chance to choose either of the house before his other brother Tim. Kip, therefore, makes the first choice on which house to retain after which Tim retains the other.     Ã‚
